imperial armour compendium 9th edition pdf trove

A lot of the profiles have been tidied a little and they benefit greatly from this, as degrading profiles on low wound models like this was often a problem in the previous edition. Imperial Armour Compendium - First Look (WH40K) - YouTube If you are a fan of Forge World models and want the chance to use them in your games of 40k then you really should pick this book up, and while I understand that for pure Tyranid players it may seem a shame you have to fork out for the entire book, for those who collect multiple armies it is great having all these profiles collected in one place! - Warhammer 40K BOOKS COLLECTION - Internet Archive Whirlwind Scorpius. 9th Edition Imperial Armour Compendium: The Goonhammer Review By James "One_Wing" Grover October 31, 2020 Forge World formed a key part of competitive play in 8th Edition, offering a wide range of additional options for some factions alongside some very cool models for players who wanted to try something different. At a high level, you generally see: With that out the way, on to the factions. At that point, given their defensive profile and the fact that they can just flatten stuff in melee, I think theres a plausible argument for trying three of these as a silly gimmick build. Today we see the new Imperial Armour Compendium up for pre order from Forge World! The bad news is, the Kytan went up 10 points. This is because it is only 1500pts, leaving you enough leftovers to putsomething in your list to contest objectives, and its statline is a wild ride. Venatari Custodians[ CORE]: Woo buddy, am I excited. Hazardsalso seem OK they get a substantial point cut in exchange for losing a single wound and thats probably a net positive, just about. The flamer shooting profile is up to 12 now, like most of the flamer archetype weapons. The Regimental Doctrine for Krieg was shown off on Warcom and is kind ofeh not really lighting up the world. Of the various suits, the Rvarna feels like the big winner. Innocuous but also undeniably winners we have Tetras, which trade out their one shot, three tokens markerlight for a markerlight that just has heavy 3, while going down 5pts each to boot. I hope this is something we see for other less known chapters in the future, even if it is in White Dwarf articles. That probably still isnt pushing them to the top tables. Someone at Forge World really loves drills. They killed my DKOK, thanks a lot after buying a Gorgon. Thankfully they do also get a small benefit in the ability for a vehicle to fire on a 4+ when they are killed, making it a danger at times to take out Krieg vehicles, especially ones with nasty weapons! Weapon profiles and the stat line stayed exactly the same, its just firing half as many shots. Luckily the new Imperial Armour Compendium is here to solve both those problems, and GW have been kind enough to send us a copy. All told, the leviathan takes a substantial hit to both offense and defense, balanced out by dropping all the way down to a base 220 points, and only up to 240 with the common double storm cannon loadout. How many wounds? Tau also do very well in the points department with the Rvarna getting a big points cut, we also see a number of weapons tweaks too, with increased damage and strength here and there across the range, perhaps pointing at any future upcoming changes in a new book on the horizon. Massive thanks to @warhammerofficial for sending us a free review copy of Angron! The deathshroud build feels like the play, and the fact that this loadout is over 120pts cheaper than in CA is kind of mind boggling. What stats do the turbolaser have? Definitely usable. It probably still doesnt cross the line to being actuallygood, but Im certainly looking at the arms of my largest robot son contemplatively. They all picked up a substantial number of wounds, with a warhound now having 50 wounds and a warlord 120, but dropped in toughness, with the warlord the only titan at T9. Each void shield is a 3 wound pool that has to be eaten through before the vehicle itself takes any damage, and that pool cant overflow so if a lascannon hits for 6 damage the void shield will absorb 3 damage, and the other 3 will just vanish. All flavours ofMalcador also go down a lot in cost, and while it probably doesnt make them competitive, like a lot of things it stops them being as hateful to use. All of the Artillery platforms and Mortars now do not count the crew as a separate unit, and you simply ignore them for the purposes of combat, they are just for show now! TheValdor Tank Hunter is in a similar boar where it got a decent discount, but lost some oomph in exchange, and doesnt really end up as a desireable package overall. 11 named characters, most of which youve never heard of cover the above 5 chapters + the Salamanders. itll rarely be worth it to spend 3 CP to take one. Such a fun and nostalgic time painting this up - used @redgrassgames wet palettes, @duncanjrhodes and @thearmypainter paints and can't wait to paint up some more! Forge World formed a key part of competitive play in 8th Edition, offering a wide range of additional options for some factions alongside some very cool models for players who wanted to try something different. Atomantic Shielding matches the contemptor, so only a 5+ invulnerable save rather than 4+, combining for an overall substantial drop in durability. Such a cool model and was great fun to paint up in a more modern scheme! Moreso than almost any other faction, Chaos Space Marines have leaned on Forge World units to stay competitive in days gone by. In an edition that prioritizes having bodies to take objectives and keep your opponent off theirs, spending several hundred points on a single tank thats going to have trouble moving around is already a tough sell, and adding a big additional CP cost is a tough pill to swallow. The good news is, it gained 4 wounds. The Lynx also gets a substantial simplification and a cost reduction, and probably ends up more practical out of it. The Death Korps also get a Regimental Doctrine and datasheets for their unique Death Rider models. Pure upside is the best kind of upside. Units have also had the CORE keyword added, setting them up to be futureproofed for a future Custodes Codex. As someone who loves the Death Korps of Krieg and the Titan Legions, I was very excited to see this book and check out the profiles contained within! Solomon Lok never really saw play anyway, but Hector Rex was a popular choice because of how high you could juice him when you added a trait. The command squads are obviously the more desireable option, since they get an extra attack with no extra cost, and the good news is that you dont have to include a Commander to be able to take them any more each Commander just lets you take one without using a slot. If you disable this cookie, we will not be able to save your preferences. The good news, however, is that all the various flavours of Death Rider actually might, theyre good with strong Serberys Raider energy to them. Both Hierodule builds getmassive discounts too (and sit in the Heavy Support slot), and the Scythed option ends up in a pretty similar spot to the Dimachaeron, though Id probably give that monstrosity the not because of its invuln and mobility tricks (though to be fair if you have a slot free to put Dermic Symbiosis on the Hierodule its probably better). Last for this section, theTaunar almost certainly works out as a loser. Not a huge change, but really impactful vs some targets. Across the rest of the Astra Militarum section we seem some great Quality of Life updates as well as weapon and profile updates that make for some fun changes to these units! We also have full reviews of both Codex Supplement: Space Wolves and Codex Supplement: Deathwatch, both also up for preorder today! Also the only weapon that costs points now is the Arachnus Storm Cannon (which costs the same as before effectively), so every other weapon load out is cheaper now, which is cool. Weapons were all simplified, with the Macro weapon type no longer existing, and the Blast ability added where needed. For the Eldar, the Revenant Titan getting a 4+ Inv save regardless of how far they move. Achillus Dreadnought [CORE]: Got the main changes from the Galatus, 9 wounds, -1D taken, extra attack. This tank was utter garbage ever since it released, being essentially a bunch of plasma guns that could overheat to have fewer shots. This has changed somewhat from the previous incarnation, and arguably is a little worse for your foot slogging troops. Imperial Armour Compendium | Forge World Webstore Finally, the dark horse that I am hoping doesnt turn out to go anywhere of the units in this book with titan in their name, the Revenant Titan is probably closest to being decent in a Strike Force game. The Stormblade andPraetor stand out a bit as both get a signifcant bump to their main guns, with the Stormblade going up a point of damage and the Praetor getting an extra D6 shots on the firetstorm mode. Any weapons that Forgeworld doesnt currently make in 28mm are gone, so goodbye to reaver chainfists and carapace weapons that arent the apocalypse missile launcher and warlord carapace weapons that arent apocalypse launchers or laser blasters. Combined with the contents of the new Space Marines Codex you will be able to carry the torch for these under represented armies! **Somebody give Forge World a camera**My first look at the Imperial Armour Compendium from Forge World.Price 40EnjoySave on Warhammer 40K here: - Elemen. The second thing to note is that this section includes a single new Stratagem: The SmokescreenStratagem from Codex: Space Marines makes an appearance here, allowing units with the relevant keyword (mostly tanks) to pop smoke when shot at for 1 CP instead of having that ability for free in a more proactive use way. Greater Blight Drones are also way better, especially in Death Guard, despite losing the damage on their weapons. What about the new thunderhawk rules? Fundamentally, the ability to build yourself an incredibly deadly melee missile at a cut-down price is restored, so I guess enjoy that! Credit: Jack Hunter. The Hornet is also -1 to hit all the time without having to advance. The Sentinel has historically been the better unit, but the Stalker is nowso cheap that I actually might give it the nod as the superior option just as a throwaway push unit. All The New Imperial Armor Compendium 40k Rules - Spikey Bits Whats awesome is that they dropped from costing 900-1000 points down to only 600, so can actually be used (if you can stomach spending 3 CP for a superheavy auxiliary detachment and an additional 1 CP for Martial Legacy). Credit: CrabStuffedMushrooms. Boo. Adrasite Spears remain unchanged (and mostly garbage anyway). This website uses cookies so that we can provide you with the best user experience possible. Whereas before Chaos players could laugh at loyalists forced to play around unit restrictions thanks to the Relic rule, now were in the exact same boat as loyalists, in that many of the units that you might take from this book now cost you 1 CP to add to a detachment. Theres a bunch of stuff here that gets decent discounts or modest changes that make them a bit more usable without pushing them over into true winners. If youre a user of these its worth scanning through and checking for the addition of Blast on their guns Knights missed out on the first pass of FAQs due to not being in the main indexes. While the main gun remained essentially the same, both types of sponsons got a shakeup. Imperial Armour Compendium. So yeah, 2+ save, and 5 points cheaper for what you probably were already doing with this unit. Unfortunately, both of these get hit hard by being forced to take theInspiring Leader warlord trait. (LogOut/ Astral Claws Ultramarines with Rapid Assault and Hungry for Battle. The rest are what they are. Thanks, guys. Minotaurs Imperial Fists with Duellists and Stalwart chapter tactics. Void shields have also been completely redesigned and are no longer a confusing degrading not-invulnerable save. Galatus Dreadnought [CORE]: Down to 9 wounds from 10, but now doesnt degrade. Back at the launch of the 8th edition of Warhammer 40,000 we saw a series of volumes from Forge World collecting together all the rules for Forge World units in the new edition of the game. Custodes Telemon Dreadnought. In the same way as Space Marines, the Traitors also have to spend an additional CP if they want to take a Martial Legacy unit. Weve seen a bit of that thus far in 9th, with hangover 8th Edition rules throwing up a few very powerful choices in the Edition transition, while other units are complete trash at their Chapter Approved costs. It gets a 4++ to compensate, but Im not sure that gets it back over the line into lists with all the cool new options to compete with. The Hellcrusher claws have added a sweep mode for clearing out smaller units very helpful and the Scorpion cannon now fires 15 S5 1 damage shots instead of 10 S6 2 damage shots. In Lords of War land the Cobra and Scorpion also both got respectable point cuts and arebetter than they used to be, but probably still dont have a serious role in lists. Now your mileage may vary if you only collect one army, but as I have multiple armies with a wide and varied range of Forge World models across them I much prefer having them all in the one book. The Tarantula Battery also makes the move to a Fortification slot, making taking 3 units of these very tempting for some objective defence! Their Gas Bombs are still excellent and with the Grenadiers stratagem will be painful for anyone on the recovering end! The unit cost now is the same regardless of weapons (which makes pistol/buckler 5 points cheaper) AND both weapon load outs got a buff. Its tougher, its way meaner on the offence, it starts with its 5++ and grows a 5+++as well if it devours something and only pays an extra 20pts for the privilege. Engineers are less exciting they lose their weird super shotguns and are basically kind of boring. TheInquisition retain only their two Named Characters. There are some changes in weapons as well stormcannon arrays trade 2 shots for an extra 12 range, melta lances gain blast but swap from 2d3 to d6 shots, and the grav-flux bombard doubles in shots and has a more standard grav weapon statline. Hes still got two casts and denies and is still way nastier/tougher in a fight than most equivalents, so may still be the one of the better inquisition options. The Ares getting a points increase, and being potentially worse vs hordes could be a big deal in the long run. Putting aside the insult that they cost the same as their loyalist counterparts, lacking the HELBRUTE keyword is a big problem and the added CP cost to bring them makes them more of a liability than anything. You have to agree that is a massive amount of profiles available in the book! On top of that, they got 1pt cheaper each, and got built in deep strike, and I think the latter point combined with the fact that their new big shots are perfect Gravis killers, especially underExpert Crafters, makes these worth a look. Also the shooting attack on the spear is up to flat 3 damage, from D3 damage. Medusas of all flavours get a more functional boost some go up in cost slightly, but the damage on their big gun increases to d6, obviously very nice and much more scary to be up against when theyre well hidden. It also helps that the statline is still fine theyve gone to 9W rather than 12, but are at least non-degrading, and get the always-on ability to ignore AP-1, a nice extra upside. These datasheets include. I have been crying out for the Augmented Mount to be usable on any strength of attack, as previously this was locked to S4 and below only, which was a little situational. While it only has 32W, its got T9, a built in 4++ against shooting and the right keywords for Lightning Fast, making it extremely non-trivial to kill at range, especially if you stickFortune on it as well. Also the Adrathic option is slightly cheaper, so basically everything about Aquilon got better, except for the claw. If youre familiar with the Codex: Space Marines relic contemptor datasheet youre already familiar with this one the only difference is new weapon options. [ [2] Description This compendium includes 222 datasheets, including super-heavy units and highly specialised troops. Most notably, the damage of both modes of the flamer has gone down to one, and the other gun has lost AP and the ability to deal MWs to vehicles, and theres really nothing else here thats going to make up for that. Chaos Daemons get some welcome points adjustments, no longer have we got to have points values tied to the Gods holy numbers! That makes them kind of losers overall. No longer will you have to flick back and forth to the very back to find your factions points! This ability is included on most relic units dawning from the Horus Heresy era if a unit has this ability on its profile then the detachment it is taken in increases in cost by 1CP. The Adeptus Mechanicus get updated profiles for the Secutarii with rules keying off the new Titan Legion keyword that has been added for Titans. The second rule isnt really a rule its a set of recommended traits and parent chapters for various Forgeworld created chapters. Sagittarum Guard [CORE] : Same points, but apparently the bolter half of their gun was a heavy bolter, because now it is 2 damage. Alright lets start with the cool stuff that only Chaos Space Marines get, instead of the things we share with loyalists. Out of the other units, theTesseract Ark also got cheaper (especially if you swap the cannots to particle beamers) but its tough to say if it truly ends up as a winner because of the change to Quantum Shielding, which is definitely a major downgrade on it. Titan Legions have had a massive boost in this book! RIP. Sky Slasher Swarms also get a bump their stats and costs are unchanged, but they get built in deep strike.
